Knapp Burn Foundation donates $10,000 to IMH for new fire alarm panel

The Iroquois Memorial Hospital is the recipient of a generous grant proving a fire safety update at the Watseka hospital. The Knapp Burns Foundation has donated $10,000 for the installation of a new fire alarm panel. The foundation’s goal is to support burn victims and their support systems.

The Knapp Burn Foundation provides support for burn victims and family who experience challenges in rebounding from traumatic injuries. It also provides educational info for the public.

It was in 1975 when a Knapp family member was seriously hurt in a car accident. The family member was airlifted to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, where doctors performed many surgeries for severe burns and traumatic injuries. It was then when the Knapp family learned of the need to build a support-system that, at the time, was not adequate to deal with the difficult challenges of rebuilding a productive life-style after a serious burn injury.
