Kankakee, Will Counties moving to new mitigation efforts due to COVID-19

Two more regions in Illinois will be placed under strict mitigations because of rising coronavirus cases.  Region 7 of Governor Pritzker's Restore Illinois Plan includes Kankakee, Will,  Kane and DuPage counties.  Bars and restaurants in the restricted regions are not allowed to offer indoor services, only outdoors.  The restrictions kick in at 11 pm Friday.  The Governor said businesses affected by the shutdown will go the front of the line for financial assistance.

The mitigation will remain in effect for 14 days.  Angela Czako-Morry, Executive Director of the Kankakee County Chamber of Commerce, said it's hoped the positivity rates will be reviewed after the 14-day wait.  The plan also limits gatherings of 25 or less.
