Kankakee, Will Counties backing up re-opening

Governor JB Pritzker and the State Department of Public Health are announcing COVID Recovery Region 7 will see tighter restrictions, beginning Wednesday. Region 7 includes Kankakee and Will Counties.

The new restrictions are in response to the region’s metrics which have experienced a COVID-19 test positivity rate of over eight percent for three days in a row. The new rules state there can be no more indoor seating in restaurants or bars and all outdoor dining must close each night at 11 pm. The new rules are in effect for at least the next 14 days.

The governor is also restricting gatherings to no more than 25 people in any given place. The mitigation restrictions do not currently apply to schools. Should metrics not improve, more stringent mitigation measures could be implemented.
