Monday offered some encouraging news in the positivity rates for COVID-19. There was another decrease in the high numbers of late. The Region 7 rate last week peaked at 20.7%. That’s for the Kankakee-Will County area. Monday’s number was at 19.8. Individually, Kankakee was at 20.5 Monday after hitting 22.7 last week.

But the number of COVID deaths is still rising. Six more died over the weekend, according to the County health department. The total death count is now 101. There were 474 new weekend cases.
