Illinois State Police investigate inmate death in Iroquois County

                          Second inmate hospitalized in critical condition


— The Illinois State Police are investigating an inmate death at the Iroquois County Jail in Watseka. The 24-year-old was found unresponsive in his cell at about 11:15 Wednesday morning. He was later pronounce4 dead. An autopsy has not yet been scheduled.

A State Police news release states another inmate was found unresponsive in his cell about 7:11 pm Tuesday. He’s in critical condition at a hospital in Champaign County.

Both inmates were jailed for homicide cases in Iroquois County.

Illinois State Police, Department of Criminal Investigations, were requested by the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death and the hospitalization of the other inmate.
