Illinois ‘at a danger point,’ Pritzker warns, as Thursday’s 1,772 new known COVID-19 cases are followed by 1,942 today

Governor J. B. Pritzker said Thursday “We’re at a danger point.” State officials reported 1,772 new COVID-19 cases and 18 more deaths in Illinois. That was the highest one-day tally of newly reported cases since late May. Now today (Friday), public health officials are reporting 1,941 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, with 21 additional deaths.

The state has hit more than 49,000 tests in one day.

The governor said the state is just days away from more restrictions.
