'Hurricane Dogs' seek homes

The effects of Hurricane Laura in Texas and Louisiana has brought more than two-dozen dogs to the local area. And the Kankakee County Humane Foundation on Route 1, St. Anne now has 29 dogs looking for forever homes. They’re calling them ‘Hurricane Dogs.’ Most are puppies and readily available for adoption.

Volunteers made the trip south to help the many dogs left behind when evacuees were chased from their homes. Scores of dogs were in need of help. Several groups have stepped up.

Jordan Chapman, Exec Director of the St. Anne Humane Foundation, said they were more than willing to help the dogs victimized by the force of mother-nature. Breeds available range from mixed-terriers, black labs and golden retrievers. Most are less than six-months old. Chapman advises anyone with an interest needs to fill out adoption paperwork, prior to any visit.
