Area law enforcement agencies participated in traffic enforcement aimed at cracking down on impaired and distracted driving during the T-Giving holiday period. And that effort will continue thru the month into the New Year weekend.
State Police in Illinois and Indiana, sheriff’s departments, municipal police were also focusing on keeping roads safe. The detail including stopping drivers not buckled up, DUI violators, distracted driving and an always-important effort to keep motorists aware of Scott’s Law --- moving over for emergency vehicles. Several citations and warnings were issued.

The Thanksgiving enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
