A Danville man faces several charges after a high-speed chase in Kankakee. 30-year-old Lavonta Roberts fled from an accident scene (Wednesday) then raced south on Schuyler Avenue, before he ran his vehicle off a ramp leading to I-57. Roberts was arrested for several traffic violations, including aggravated fleeing & alluding and speeding well over the posted speed limit.

Kankakee County Sheriff’s Police report speeds of up to 100 miles an hour while Roberts fled from the crash site at Schuyler Avenue and River Street. The chases ended when Roberts’ vehicle overshot the interstate entrance ramp and ran down an embankment. He allegedly told police he fled because he was driving without insurance.
