Health Department reminding community folks to remain vigilant during holiday weekend

Local health officials want to remind the community to remain vigilant during the holiday weekend. COVID-19 numbers have spiked in many parts of the state and country in recent days. Officials say ‘now’s not the time to relax our habits of stopping the spread of the virus.

Iroquois County added three new confirmed cases Tuesday, bringing the total to 160. Two more cases were added yesterday (Thurs); Iroquois County now has 162 confirmed cases. Ford County has 34 cases, one new case added Thursday. Six new cases were announced in Kankakee County yesterday (Thurs). Nine in Kankakee County were confirmed Wednesday. The county now has 1,373.

Health department leaders encourage the community to follow social distancing guidelines during the holiday. Keep family gatherings small, focus on outdoor rather than indoor activities. Wash hands often.

The Illinois Department of Public Health announced 869 new confirmded cases Thursday, with 36 additional deaths. 

In INDIANA --- new cases were reported Thursday in Jasper, Newton, Tippecanoe, and White counties.

Benton County reports 48 confirmed cases.  Newton County has 96, Jasper 113, White County with 259 cases and Tippecanoe with 659.
