A massive solar farm project is coming to rural southern Grundy County. The Grundy County Board (Tuesday) night approved a special use petition request by Blue Sky to operate a utility scale solar farm. The site is within a few miles of Dwight, Gardner and Wilmington… in Garfield and Goodland Townships.

Officials said it will not compromise operations at the Dwight Airport. The project will generate more than $36 million in property taxes in total for all taxing bodies over the life of the project, which is slated to last between 30 and 35 years. The project will also provide clean energy for 65,000 average homes.
