Will County Executive Larry Walsh has died. The former State Senator for the 43rd District passed away at his home in Elwood. He was 72. He had fought prostate cancer the last five years.

Walsh served the 43rd Senate District from 1997 to 2005, resigning that position to become Will County’s Executive officer. He was re-elected to his Executive seat in 2008, 2012 and 2016.

Friends and co-workers site in his many accomplishments as Executive, including the yet-to-be completed construction of the new Will County Courthouse, the new County Health Department Building and a new facility for the Will County Sheriff’s Office. He had a 50 plus-year relationship in public service.
