Ford County: 11 new COVID cases, 2 more deaths

The Ford County Public Health Department announced (Monday) 11 new cases of COVID-19. Six of these cases are associated with the outbreak at Piper City Rehab & Living Center. Sadly, it was also announced two additional COVID-19 related deaths. The individuals included a male and a female, both in their 80’s. The county now lists 14 COVID deaths.

21 New COVID Cases in Vermilion County ---

The Vermilion County Health Department confirms 21 new COVID-19 cases on Monday. Among the positive cases were one infant, one preschooler, three grade-school aged children, and a teenager. There were also two people in their 20’s and four in their 30’s. The total number of cases in Vermilion Count is at 1,507.

                     Schools adjust to surging numbers --

School districts have made adjustments to the growing number of positive cases.  Herscher School District 2 has now closed for two weeks at the recommendation of the Kankakee County Public Health Department.  Reports had 95 students in isolation after testing positive. The GCMS district at Gibson City also moved to all-remote learning for two weeks.  Rantoul elementary also has all-remote in place.  South Newton Corporation in Indiana closed all schools until at least November 3.
