United States of America flags are on proud display throughout much of Watseka where a military funeral today (Monday) will honor Army Sgt. Jeremy C.Sherman.  The 23-year-old will be laid to rest with full military honors provided by the Army and local Watseka American Legion Post 23.  Sgt. Sherman's family would appreciate a large community turnout for today's 2:30 pm service at Trinity Church in Watseka.

An impressive procession accompanied the hearse Friday as Jeremy was brought back home. Over 2500 U.S. flags are on display, courtesy of The Flagman's Mission Continues (www.theflagmanmission.org.).  Flags are flying at the Trinity Church, Knapp Funeral Home and along several routes in Watseka. Onlookers joined several emergency vehicles, citizens and the Patriot Guard in escorting Sgt. Sherman's body back home. Several more proud Americans paid respects along I-57 overpasses as the escort proceeded from Chicago's Midway Airport.

Jeff Hastings of The Flagman's Mission Continues says "this flag display is all about community pride, community respect toward the family of a war-hero."  Hastings said it's all about respect and he's proud to be involved. 

Volunteers will be needed again (Tuesday) to take down the flags following the funeral.  Volunteers are asked to meet at the aTrinity Church parking lot at 9 am Tuesday, December 1.
