First Snowfall in northern Illinois, some accumulation but won’t last long

Motorists in northern Illinois counties were dealing with the season’s first snowfall this morning. Some heavier amounts were likely to result in 2-3 inches, but temps in the mid 40’s will find the snow gone by late afternoon. A few delays were reported earlier, visibility was reduced and some slushy roads were reported.

A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect from 2 am ‘til 10 am. for northern counties including Kane, McHenry, DeKalb, Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, and Lee Counties. The snow was changing to rain as it moved to the east. Some areas of Will, Kankakee and northwest Indiana counties were mostly dealing with rain.
