Proposed tax hikes for operations within the fire operations were defeated in three fire protection districts Tuesday.  Results brought negative votes in the Limestone, Grant Park and Bourbonnais districts.  Voters also denied the increases in the March primary election.

Kankakee County Board winners Tuesday included Heather Bryan in District 23 and Chad Miller in District 25.  Bryan defeated Jim Byrne while Miller squeaked out a narrow win overJoe Turner.

County Auditor Jake Lee easily defeated Kyle Evans.  Circuit Clerk Sandy Cianci won another term with a win over Dondre Marricle.

For the 79th Illinois House seat, Jackie Haas defeated Charlene Eads.  The 40th District Senate seat was undecided with Patrick Joyce holding about a 1,000-vote lead over Eric Wallace as of early today.
