Fatal crashes in Livingston, Ford Counties

A 77-year-old Dwight motorcyclist died as a result of a two-vehicle crash Saturday north of Pontiac. The victim hasn't been identified pending famly notification. Illinois State Police and the Livingston County Coroner investigated just after 4 pm.  20-year-old Tyler Blackard of Pontiac was westbound on 1830 N and failed to stop at the intersection of U.S. Route 66. Blackard was ticketed for failure to yield at a stopped intersection and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.The intersection was closed for approximately four hours.

In Ford County --- the Coroner's Office identified a woman killed Friday evening near Paxton.  23-year-old Leondra Hopkins of Champaign died in a single-vehicle crash.  The woman and a passenger were southbound on I-57 approaching a construction zone.  Police said Hopkins lost control when the lanes merged into one.  The vehicle rolled several times.  The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.  The accident happened around 6:30 pm.
