An 87-year-old man is dead after authorities in Newton County, IN investigated a single-vehicle crash Monday. The crash is under investigation by the Sheriff's department and the Coroner's Office. The preliminary investigation indicates a southbound car on US 41, south of Lake Village left the roadway and traveled through a field striking a tree along a waterway.  Police said it happene 2 miles southwest of US 41 and State Road 10. The sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene by the Newton County Coroner.
