New coronavirus cases in Illinois decreased Sunday, dipping below 1,000 for the first time in four days. The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 954 new cases and 20 additional deaths. The slight downtick was in contrast to the surge in cases in southern states.

Iroquois County enters the day with 173 confirmed cases of the virus. A males in his 70's was added Friday.  Ford County now has 43 cases, one new case Friday being a female in her 30's.  Kankakee County added  27 new cases, bringing the county total to 1,464.  There were no area deaths attributed to the vrus.

In Indiana, new cases were reported in Jasper, Newton, White and Tippecanoe counties. The State Department of Health reported 560 new cases in Indiana.  Indiana now has 51,612 cases statewide, with 2,567 deaths.
