Vermilion County Budget gets green light --

The Vermilion County Board (Tuesday) approved its new Fiscal Year 20-21 budget.  Expenses are listed at $41.7 million dollars while revenues are only expected to total $38.9 million dollars. County Board Chairman Larry Baughn says given the fact the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the numbers were not too bad. He said sales tax revenues were not as low as many might have expected. He also said the property tax payments were coming in at a steady pace.
Baughn says it is anticipated that the General Fund will end the new fiscal year with a $46-thousand dollar deficit. But he also said department heads and office-holders helped erars a $400,000 deficit in 2011.
