ComEd: Kankakee County fully re-stored

ComEd's officials are reporting all of Kankakee County and surroundning areas have their electrical service outage back online.  The exception is a small part of the Grundy County area. Many neighborhoods had been without serive since last Monday's torenado activity. Widespread outages had been repoerted since the August 10th storm.  Rebuilding the system was part of the work-detail, in addition to replacing poles and downed lines.  The "derecho" storm that blew through northen Illinois and parts of NW Indiana resulted in widespread power outages. ComEd report that 810,000 customers system-wide were without power following the storm.

In the days that followed, more than 3,300 ComEd employees and contractors were working to restore power.

The National Weather Service in Chicago confirmed a total of 15 tornadoes during the storm, including one at Kentland, IN.  It's the second-highest number of tornadoes to occur on a single day for the NWS's Chicago region, according to ComEd.
