Clemency denied for Dee Eastman

The Illinois Prisoner Review Board and Governor J.B. Pritzker have denied clemency for a convicted-murderer for the killing of a Bourbonnais woman outside a Kankakee grade school in 1989. A petition for executive clemency was denied for now 56-year-old Dee Eastman.

Eastman is serving a life sentence. He was convicted in October 1989 for the murder of 25-yr-old Jennifer Mesenbring of Bourbonnais and the wounding of two police officers. It was May of 1989 when the 25-year-old Eastman shot and killed Miss Mesenbring near where children were outside playing at Lafayette School on N 5th Avenue in Kankakee. He then fled the area in a stolen pickup truck. During the search for the suspect, Eastman shot and wounded two police officers --- now-retired Kankakee Officer Larry Osenga and Bradley Officer Jeff Hackley.
