A business owner in Manteno alerted local police to some suspicious activity, leading to the arrest of a Chebanse woman Monday. 34-year-old Toni White allegedly tried to pass a phony $20 dollar bill. Manteno Police report the woman used a counterfeit bill to pay at a restaurant. Officers were contacted and were shown a surveillance video of the woman along with a license plate number of the vehicle she left in. The woman was located at a nearby service station, where she’s alleged to have tried passing more of the counterfeit money. Nearly two dozen more fake $20 dollar bills were found in the woman’s possession. Forgery and drug-related offenses were filed against the woman.
