Car-jacking in Clifton, suspected arrested

A 29-year-old Champaign man is under arrest following a reported armed carjacking in Clifton Tuesday afternoon. It happened just before 4 pm at the Circle K Gas Station, just off I-57. Illinois State Police report the offender and lone occupant of the vehicle fled the scene. The suspect vehicle was located northbound on I-57. An attempted stop had the driver continue into the Chicago city limits. Police said the pursuit ended at 71st Street.

Iroquois County Sheriff's Police identified the suspect as Justin C. Terry.  He's jailed in Iroquois County charged with Aggravated Vehicular Hijacking, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. The sheriff's department said the vehicle was stolen from Urbana earlier in the afternoon. Terry, according to police, arrived at the Circle K station and proceeded to steal a second vehicle from its parking lot while forcing the victim from their car at gunpoint. He then fled northbound on the interstate.
