Back-to-School Safety

School districts are welcoming students and staff back this week.  Many local districts started their instruction today (Wednesday), although remotely, due to tzhe COVID-19 pandemic.  Most all districts are promoting the use of masks and social distancing practices.  School Bus safety is also part of an effort to keep students safe.  Motorists are reminded about thw law requring all traffic to stop, from both directions, while students board or unload from buses.

Law enforcement agencies are teaming with school districts to enforce the school bus law.

More than 2.5 million cloth face masks are being distributed to public schools in Illinois. The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency are also distributing face shields to schools for increased protection. Despite that, most school children will be starting the school year remotely.
