A Pembroke Township brush fire (Thursday) kept area firefighters busy. Several departments were alerted. With gusty winds contributing the flames spreading. Two firemen were treated for smoke inhalation.

                             Fallen tree leaves man dead in Kankakee County  --

The Kankakee County Coroner’s Office was investigating the death of a 68-year-old man who may have been the victim of a fallen tree in Limestone. Emergency crews were called to an area near 2510 W and 2000 S  (Thursday) after someone went to check on the victim's status. The man was reported to have been tree trimming or clearing brush when he apparently became trapped under a fallen tree.
