Will House Leader Find Time To Debate Farm Bill?

 

The passage of the farm bill in the house ag committee now means it can move to the floor but there are so few days left and so much to do that things don't look good for quick action.  Here's the reaction and the delimma from WGFA National Farm Broadcaster, Ken Root:

House Tries To Corral GIPSA Rules

 

The House Agriculture Committee had a marathon session this week that culminated in passage of a farm bill.  But the proceedings became divisive and a bit ugly over a rule on livestock marketing that was in the 2008 Farm Bill.  More from WGFA National Farm Broadcaster, Ken Root:

Penfield Hosting Historic Farm Days

PENFIELD — Minneapolis-Moline and BF Avery farm equipment will reign at this year's Historic Farm Days, which runs through this weekend in Penfield. And don't be surprised to see a Doodlebug or two.

The annual Historic Farm Days will be held Thursday through Sunday on the grounds of the I & I Antique Tractor and Gas Engine Club. While there will be a few events Thursday, the show gets rolling Friday.

"We have a new building that has been erected that will host the feature brand equipment," I&I President John Fredrickson said.

A dedication ceremony for the new building is set for Saturday prior to the parade.

Breakthrough In Foot and Mouth Disease Research

 

Foot and Mouth disease is one of the most contagious animal diseases on the planet.  Extreme care has been taken to keep it out of the United States.  WGFA's National Farm Broadcaster, Ken Root, reports that a research breakthrough may make the disease more managable and contain an outbreak more humanely:
