Benton County jail inmate found dead

They're calling it a suicide inside the Benton County, Indiana jail. An inmate was found dead early Thursday morning.

Benton County Sheriff Boston "Butch" Pritchett said the man was booked into the jail around 2:30 Thursday morning for driving under the influence.

Pritchett said a check on the man around 4 AM found him lying on a bench inside of the cell. According to Pritchett, the employee came back to check on him about 30 minutes later, and found him hanging inside the cell.

Pritchett said the man used a mattress cover to hang himself. Pritchett said there is no foul play, and authorities are ruling it a suicide.
