Watseka to re-bid sewer project

The Watseka City Council plans to re-bid a storm project after two submitted bids came in well over the engineer's estimate for the work. The Council also plans to divide the project, seeking bids for underground infrastructure work and paving work, separately.

The engineer estimate is listed at $1,195,250. The project would separate sewer and sanitary lines along North 2nd Street to Oak Street. The work would also the downtown area from 2nd to 5th Streets.

The city has three other projects on the drawing board as well. Watseka's aging infrastructure continues to be an ongoing rebuilding process, while city leaders manage the finances.
