Scary Fire after car hits gas pump in Kankakee

It was just a 10-minute fire, but it looked like a devastating blaze at a Kankakee gas station Wednesday.

An SUV went up in flames after it hit a gas pump at the Citgo gas station at 604 S. Indiana Avenue about 3:30 in the afternoon.

The driver of the vehicle said the engine stalled, and after restarting, the vehicle jumped out of control, hit the pump and both went up in flames. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Firemen were on the scene in minutes. Witnesses reported hearing large bangs, car windows were blown out from the heat. But again, no injuries.
