Watseka Flood Update: Caution, Water Reaches Raodways

UPDATE:  4/20/13  4:55 pm

Motorists in Watseka need to use caution and be aware of flooded roadways. Barricades are in place on N. 4th Street near the Nettie Davis School and on Radio Station Road (1973E 1950N).

Although the monitoring points on the Iroquois River at Iroquois and Sugar Creek at Milford shows the water levels have crested and are dropping, water is flowing to Watseka. There’s no immediate danger to serious flooding of homes or businesses, but roadways will be impacted.

Should you encounter flooded roads, turn around and find another passable route.

Watseka Public Works Department reported the water levels on the creek and river rose approximately 3 inches an hour overnight, but has slowed to less than an inch per hour today (Sat).

The Iroquois River at Iroquois and Sugar Creek at Milford have crested. However, minor flooding will continue in Watseka until the flow weakens.
