Red Cross Ready, if Needed in Iroquois County

The Iroquois County Chapter of the American Red Cross is prepared to step up and assist anyone or any family should evacuations become necessary from the flooding that's inundated much of Illinois.

The Iroquois River and Sugar Creek have climbed out of their banks since the heavy rainfall earlier in the week.  The National Weather Service has provided hourly updates of the expected rise in rivers and streams.  The river and creek are showing signs of cresting and water levels are likely to begin receeding Saturday.

Evacuations are not likely to be necessary locally in Iroquois County.  However, Red Cross President Dan Raymer has been in contact with ESDA (Emergency Services and Disaster Agency) officials, assuring the emergency agency that assistance would be available, if necessary.

The Red Cross contact is 815-432-4659.
