Willard Airport looks east for more flights

SAVOY -- Willard Airport may be offering some new East Coast destinations. The airport received a federal grant dedicated to small community air service.

The $500,000 will be spent on flights out east. Washington D.C. is the main goal. Right now, the airport only offers flights to Chicago's O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth. UI students who live on the East Coast are forced to use connecting flights to get home.

Willard needs a few more months to figure out what airlines and airports would be involved. In the meantime, it has added one more round-trip flight to O'Hare making it six a day.
