A Maywood (IL) man drowned Monday evening in Braidwood Lake. It was an apparent fishing accident,

65-year-old Charles Johnson was pronounced dead at 9:45 pm Monday at Riverside Medical Center.

It’s believed he fell from a boat after he stood up.

Kankakee County Coroner Bob Gessner said people in another boat retrieved Johnson from the water and administered CPR. But he was pronounced dead when he reached the hospital.

Braidwood Lake, owned by Commonwealth Edison, is part of the Mazonia State Fish and Wildlife Area in Grundy County.
