Kankakee Cousins Accused of Attempted Murder

Both indicted by Grand Jury

26-year-old Jerrell Wade and 21-year-old Jonathan Wade face a grand jury indictment in Kankakee.

The two Kankakee cousins are accused of trying to kill a man during a mid-afternoon shooting on North Fifth Avenue in Kankakee last month. The two defendants pleaded not guilty Monday but face a minimum sentence of 31 years if convicted.

Prosecutors say witnesses saw the two men shoot and hit the 25-year-old victim several times, leaving him for dead in a local parking lot. The victim was taken to an area hospital but survived the attack.

The cousins are being held at Jerome Combs Detention Center in lieu of $1 million bond.
