Snowfall ranges from 4 to 7 inches in Illiana

The weather service says Wednesday that 9.6 inches of snow fell in Rockford, 9.2 inches at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and 8.7 inches in the western Chicago suburbs. Those totals come from official National Weather Service observations.

At WGFA Radio in Watseka, 4.2 inches was measured with 5 and 5.2 recorded south of Watseka and at Milford.

Several schools in Iroquois and Ford County are closed today (Wed).

Weather service forecasters say snow isn't unusual in Chicago and Rockford during March. They say the normal March snowfall is 5.6 inches in Chicago. In Rockford it's a little less, about 4.8 inches.
