3 Killed in Attica, IN House Fire

The three fatalities resulted despite efforts by volunteer firefighters to rescue them. Attica Fire Chief Ed O’Farrell said the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Firefighters entered the home but were forced to abandon their rescue attempts.
Attica firefighters received mutual aid from the Williamsport, Mellott and West Point Fire Departments. The alarm sounded just past midnight.

The victims are a man and his two young daughters; a three-year-old and an eighteen-month-old. The mother of the children had gone to a nearby gas station and arrived home to find the house on fire. She was outside screaming for help when firefighters arrived.

The Indiana State Fire Marshal is assisting in trying to determine what caused the tragedy.
