Recapping Week 1 of Illinois High School Football, Momence took out Oregon 40-21, and who else, but DeAndre Wright the star of this one. 289 yards rushing, 4 TD runs, and catching 1 TD pass. Aaron Cantwell also with 2 TD passes for the Redskins. The Central Comets get a big road win, 42-19, over one of Class 4A’s ranked teams, Prairie Central. Addison Bounds of the Hawks passed for just over 200 yards and 3 TD passes, but many contributors for the Comets, including Noah Frerichs’ 85 yard kickoff return for a TD, along with a pick and recovering an onside kick. Logan Gigl 154 yards rushing and a TD run. And QB J.R. Caspary 112 yards passing and a TD pass in his first varsity start. Watseka gets a road win in Robinson 25-6. Austin Blair 200 yards rushing and 2 TDs, Austin Kidwell with 3 sacks and a 79 kickoff return for a score. Bishop McNamara over Kankakee 49-12. Jonnie Evans and Dalton Major combined for 215 yards and 6 TDs. Milford-Cissna Park 41, Oakland 7. Josh Marquez with a TD run and TD pass, Jake Rogers 117 yards rushing and a TD, and Beau Anderson with 118 all purpose yards and a TD run. Coal City 13-12 over Wilmington. The Wildcats missed a game-tying extra point with just over a minute left. The Coalers’ Jack Dibble and Nate Natyshok each with a TD Elsewhere, Bradley Bourbonnais 27, Plainfield North 22….Plano 41, Reed Custer 0….Herscher 27, Westmont 13….Peotone 36, Dwight 6……and Manteno over Lisle 34-22, QB Ryan Sample with 336 yards passing and 3 TD passes. Also Saturday afternoon, Iroquois West beat Eureka 20-8. Henry Gerritson with 2 TD runs, QB Keaton Zirkle with 1. And in week 2 in Indiana, the S. Newton Rebels clobbered Frontier 47-0. Austin Drinski with 2 TD runs, and passed for a 3rd, Nathan Bishop also with 2 socres, and Levi Hall with an 80-yard interception return for a score. Benton Central beat Seeger 42-7. Garrett Gray rushed for 2 TDs, and caught 2 of the 4 TD passes from Brandon Rooze. Also North Newton lost to Rensselaer Central 56-7. Pioneer 42, Winamac 14….West Central 41, Caston 20.
