Iroquois County Still Struggling with Budget

An increase in employees health insurance is adding to budget struggles in Iroquois County.  The County Board’s Finance committee has scheduled yet another special  budget hearing August 30th to wrestle with money issues.  The FY 2013, it appears, is $388,000 in the red.

Budget cuts in the neighborhood of 7.5 percent are needed to pull numbers together.  Current revenues are listed at $4,648,000 dollars.

Finance Director Anita Speckman reported Tuesday the county needs more revenues.  She said the employees health insurance is expected to increase 15-20 percent.

Department heads have met with the budget leaders a few times since mid-July.  A few departments have requested pay increases.
