Area Teens Die in Memorial Weekend Accidents

Holiday traffic accidents killed students in Illinois and Indiana. 

The Vermillion County Indiana Sherriff’s office reports an accident that resulted in the death of 18-year-old Jenna Lumsford of Clinton, IN.  Police said Lumsford and a passenger were leaving the South Vermillion High School graduation ceremony Saturday. The vehicle was on State Road 63, left the road, flipping several times before coming to rest in the northbound lane. Lunsford was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital, where she died of her injuries. The passenger was treated for minor injuries. 


In  Champaign County, Coroner Duane Northrup released the name of a Homer man who died as a result of injuries in an accident last Friday.  17-year-old Brandon Umbarger of Homer died  at Carle Hospital in Urbana on Saturday.


The Champaign County Coroner also identified a 32-year-old Seymour woman, Adeline Zaricor, who died in a pedestrian versus train incident on May 26th.
