Watseka Public Aid Office Closing

The Illinois Department of Human Services has announced the closing of its public aid office in Watseka. The February 2nd closing date will force people in need of help to travel to Kankakee for services.

The DHS records show the move will affect an average of 800 clients a month and five state employees who operate the DHS Family Community Resource Center for Iroquois County, which is located on E. Walnut Street.

The action is another cost-cutting move by the state of Illinois to streamline services.
