Seat belt stop leads to Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition charges against two Watseka teens.

Illinois State Police District 21 is reporting the arrest of 18-year-old Keanon C. Lavoie of Watseka and 19-year-old Logan N. Schippert of Watseka for Unlawful Possession of Firearm Ammunition and Unlawful Possession of Alcohol by a Minor.

State Police report on Sunday (June 16, 2013) at approximately 12:00 A.M., a trooper on patrol in Iroquois County observed a vehicle on Walnut at 3rd Street in Watseka. The trooper observed the driver and passenger not wearing seatbelts. The trooper conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, Lavoie.

The trooper observed open alcohol in the vehicle. The passenger, Schippert admitted the alcohol was his. While searching the vehicle the trooper found fire arm ammunition. The driver, Lavoie, admitted the ammunition was his. Lavoie possess an expired FOID card.

Both subjects were issued citations for failure to wear a seatbelt. Additionally, Lavoie was issued citations for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and illegal transportation of alcohol.
