The Iroquois County Historical Society will sponsor a coloring contest, headed by Marilyn Wilken, chairwoman of the art department. This is the first of a several contests planned for the year and the deadline for entries to be at the Old Courthouse Museum, 103 W. Cherry, Watseka, is Motherís Day, Sunday, May 12. The contest is open to all children in three age/grade categories: children through preschool age 4, children in kindergarten through second grade, and children in grades 3-5. This is a great project for families, daycare centers, daycare homes or school classrooms. The picture for the first contest can be picked up at the museum and will soon be offered for download off the website: www.iroquoiscountyhistoricalsociety.com. Not only will the children enjoy coloring, they will also be learning about landmarks and history of Iroquois County. Each entry must include the entrantís name, age and contact info on the back side of the page. Eventually, coloring pages will be displayed in some of the local libraries.
