2 Events at Old Courthouse Museum this Weekend
Artist reception, Mary Todd Lincoln events this weekend
The Iroquois County Old Courthouse Museum will host two events this upcoming weekend. The museum, located at 103 W. Cherry, Watseka, is open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the general public is always invited to come and view the many displays reflecting the county’s history.
From 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, an artist’s reception will take place in the Art Gallery for Renee Buhrmester of Watseka, who is the featured artist for January and February. Also on display at this time is a grand collection of thimbles, and needle, pin and thread containers belonging to Kay Glathart, also a Watseka resident.
On Sunday, Laura F. Keyes will bring Mary Todd Lincoln to life in a program reflecting the spirit of Presidents’ Day and the sesquicentennial celebration of the Civil War. Keyes’ presentation will take place at 2 p.m. in the courtroom of the courthouse. There is no admission charge for this event; however, a freewill offering will be taken to offset the expenses of Ms. Keyes’ performance. Though the program doesn’t start til 2, the doors will open at 1 as seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
For more information on these, or any other museum events, call 815-432-2215.
