This database allows Illinois instruction permit, driver’s license and identification card holders to enter their emergency contact information into a voluntary, secure database. Starting in August 2009, in the event of a motor vehicle crash or other emergency situation where a person is unable to communicate directly, law enforcement may access this database to help them reach the person’s designated emergency contacts.

If a person holds both an Illinois driver’s license or permit and an Illinois identification card, the emergency contact information can be entered for both cards in one transaction. The information will only be associated with the record(s) selected by the participant.

Participants can add, modify, or delete their emergency contact information at any time by visiting this web page. Any modifications or deletions will overwrite all previously entered information. Previously entered emergency contact information will not be displayed, in order to ensure the privacy and security of the information. Participants can print the page containing their emergency contact information upon completion for their records.

Participants may select one or two persons as their emergency contacts, and are encouraged to share their participation with the emergency contacts they have chosen.

It is the responsibility of the holder of the driver’s license, instruction permit, temporary visitor’s driver’s license and/or identification card to enter accurate data into the required fields, as well as to update contact data should any data change after initial enrollment in the emergency contact database. The Secretary of State assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the data entered by the holder of a driver’s license (including commercial driver’s license), instruction permit, temporary visitor’s driver’s license and/or identification card and disclaims any liability for damages, costs, and/or expenses, including, without limitation, consequential damages, arising or resulting from any inaccurate data or failure to update contact data.

•It is bad luck if a dog walks across the diamond before the first pitch.
•Some players believe it is good luck to step on one of the bases before running off the field at the end of an inning.
•It is bad luck to touch the baselines while running off and onto the field between innings.
•Lending a bat to a fellow player is a serious jinx.
•Some players actually sleep with their bat to break out of a hitting slump or stay in a groove.
•If a pitcher is throwing a perfect game or a no-hitter, never speak of it while it’s going on.
Basketball

•The last person to shoot a basket during the warm-up will have a good game.
•Wipe the soles of your sneakers for good luck.
•Bounce the ball before taking a foul shot for good luck.

•To continue a winning streak, wear the same clothes.

•Fish may not bite if a barefoot woman passes you on the way to the dock.
•Don’t tell anyone how many fish you’ve caught until you’re done or you won’t catch another.
Football

•Double numbers on a player’s uniform brings good luck.
•It’s bad luck for a professional football player to take a new number when he is traded to another team.
•A mascot is an important good luck symbol.
Golf

•Start only with odd-numbered clubs.
•Balls with a number higher than 4 are bad luck.
•Carry coins in your pockets for good luck.
Ice Hockey

•It is bad luck for hockey sticks to lie crossed.
•It is bad luck to say “shutout” in the locker room before a game.
•Players believe they’ll win the game if they tap the goalie on his shin pads before a game.

HELP PASS LEGISLATION TO ASSIST OUR MOST SEVERELY WOUNDED WARRIORS AND THEIR FAMILIES TODAY!!!

Background: WWP’s top priority this year is for Congress to pass legislation to establish a national program to train and provide ongoing support and a modest allowance to family caregivers of our most severely wounded warriors. The Senate bill (S. 801) won committee support and could come to a full Senate vote in the coming weeks. The House bill (H.R. 3155) was just passed unanimously out of committee and will be reported to the full House shortly. Both bills contain the needed elements for a coordinated, comprehensive national program; however, S. 801 covers the OIF/OEF families who need this help so desperately while the House bill still leaves many of these families without healthcare or a monthy allowance.

Action: We urge you to contact key Representatives and your individual Representative by:

Calling their offices today, and again during Family-Caregiver National Call-In Week, July 20 through 24; AND

Sending a letter to your Congress representative. You can use or adapt the text of a sample letter on our website at www.woundedwarriorproject.org/caregivers (you can also email the letter directly to your Congress representative via this link).

Calling Your Representative:

Call Congressman Bob Filner (D-CA), Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs at (202) 225-8045 and using the Talking Points below, ask that Chairman Filner ensures that family caregiver COMPENSATION is included in the Caregiver Support legislation that will be approved by the Veterans Affairs Committee.

Call Congressman Michael Michaud (D- ME), Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Subcommittee on Health at (202) 225-6306 and using the Talking Points, below, ask that Representative Michaud ensures that family caregiver COMPENSATION is included in the Caregiver Support legislation that will be approved by the Veterans Affairs Committee.

Find your Representative by zip code: http://www.house.gov/zip/ZIP2Rep.html.

Call the US Capitol Switchboard, 202-224-3121, and ask to speak with your Representative’s office.

Using the Talking Points, below, ask that the Representative to co-sponsor HR 2342.
