Two Jasper County residents are dead following a one-car crash in Remington on Sunday night. 64-year-old George Christner of Goodland and 59-year-old Mary Jacobs of Remington were headed east on U-S 24 when the minivan driven by Christner crossed the center line, left the roadway, and hit a tree. Both Christner and Jacobs were ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene. The wreck is still under investigation.

Thousands of unemployed Illinois citizens will lose their unemployment benefits this week. That’s due to Congress failing to pass a bill that extends federal unemployment insurance.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security says this month about 15,000 people in the state will be kicked off federal unemployment insurance programs every week.

The Illinois Department of Employment Security now has a link on their website that has helpful information for people who’ve exhausted their unemployment benefits. That can be found at: http://www.ides.state.il.us/resources/default.asp
