INCUMBENTS LOSE COUNTY BOARD SEATS …

> Voters rejected County Board incumbents in Iroquois, Kankakee and Vermilion counties in Tuesday’s Illinois primary. Harriett Mowrey of Stockland lost a re-election bid in Iroquois District 3. She is serving as the Board’s current Vice-Chairman. District 4 incumbents Beryl Luecke and Dennnis Johnson also lost.

In Kankakee County, Board Vice-Chairman Steve Lair was defeated by Glenn Nixon in District 28 by a 43-29 percent margin.

Two members of the Vermilion County Board have lost their bid to run for another term. Voters on Tuesday chose Orick “Corky” Nightlinger and John Criswell to advance to the fall Democratic ballot in County Board District 5. Incumbent Chuck White finished third as he failed to win sufficient votes to advance. The other two candidates running in that district were Darrell Heath and Robert Watson.

And in the race for Vermilion County Board in District 3, Republican incumbent Steve Fourez and new-comer David Stone advanced to the fall ballot. Stone received the most votes in a three-way battle in which current board member Bill Grubb failed to advance to the General Election.
