> Visitation is today for WGFA Morning Show host Justin Kaiser. He died Sunday in Joliet from complications following surgery. Visitation is from 4-7 pm at Segur-Knapp Funeral Home, Watseka. A funeral service is at 7 pm Wednesday at Glenn Raymond Gymnasium in Watseka. Burial will be private.

> A teachers strike in Kankakee today affects 5500 students.. The District 111 school board and the Federation of Teachers have been unable to reach agreement on a new contract. The union announced the strike Sunday. There is another new negotiating session scheduled for 9 am today.

> The Gilman Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Candidate Forum today beginning at 7 p.m. The event is at at the Ford-Iroquois Farm Bureau building in Gilman.

Candidates for Iroquois County Clerk, Sheriff, Treasurer and County Board District IV have been invited to attend. The Pros and Cons of the Public Safety Tax will be presented. Each candidate will be given up to 5 minutes to speak. A 10 minute Q & A period will be held after each group of candidates’ presentations as well as the public safety tax issue. The questions will come from the audience.

> Newton County, IN organizations are banding together to help citizens prepare for winter weather emergencies. A Weather Emergency Workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Feb 4 at the Goodland Community Center. The program runs from 1 – 2:30 pm. The workshop is sponsored by Newton County Community Services and the Senior Nutrition Centers of Goodland, Morocco and Roselawn. Presentations will be made by the Goodland Police dept, Goodland EMT’s and Newton County LEPC.

> A traffic stop made by Watseka Police Monday has an Onarga man jailed for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. 20-year-old Fernando Pantoja was driving a vehicle stolen out of St. Louis, MO.
