> Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup has provided more details into the death of an 11 year old girl. Natalie Johnson of Loda died of a blood infection. But at this time, it’s not known what kind of infection. Natalie was a sixth grader at Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High School. The Ford- Iroquois County Public Health Department has provided Natalie’s family with preventive medication as a precaution. The health department’s public information officer, Julie Clark, said once autopsy results are proven appropriate action will be taken if necessary.
The coroner’s preliminary report indicates Natalie Johnson had a blood infection known as Waterhouse-Frederichen Syndrome. It’s contagious, but it’s not H1N1 and it’s not meningitis. The coroner reports definite results won’t be known until at least Monday.
P-B-L School Superintendent Cliff McClure said the school district is in touch with the health department concerning safety measures. Grief counseling is available to students and faculty members. The P-B-L High School basketball games at Clifton tonight have been postponed.
> Visitation for Natalie Johnson will be open to the public tonight from 4-8 pm at the Baier Family Funeral Home. A funeral service is Saturday at 11 am at Evangelical Covenant Church in Paxton.
> Three family members and a fourth person arrested for Meth production in rural Watseka this week and nine defendants in the stolen Wal-Mart trailer case were among those indicted by the Iroquois County grand jury Thursday. Pam Williams, Nathan Walwer, Tabatha Walwer-Strawser, and Matthew Talbott all requested court-appointed attornies in court Thursday. They’re due back in court December 8th to answer to Meth production and possession charges. They were arrested Wednesday by Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police.
Circuit Judge Gordon Lustfeldt set 44-year-old Pam Walwer’s bond at $10,000 — an I-bond. Bond for 26-year-old Nathan Walwer and 27-year-old Matt Talbott was set at $50,000 each. Strawser’s bond is $5,000. All four had been living at the Watch-E-Kee Trailer Park.
The stolen Wal-Mart trailer case finds 43-year-old Casey Jones, 54-year-old Nadine Jones and 22-year-old James Jones all facing indictment for Unlawful Production and Delivery of Cannabis plants, in addition to Felony Theft and Conspiracy to Commit Theft. They’re alleged to have directed six other defendants indicted for the theft of the trailer filled with merchandise from the Bradley Wal-Mart store. State’s Attorney Jim Devine said investigators also discovered the cannabis operation at the farmhouse along Route 49 in rural Ashkum, where the trailer was found by Illinois State Police.
