H1N1 Confirmed in Iroquois County…Blackout the cause of a two vehicle accident…Health Department Offers H1N1 Clinics…

>> The Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department has released information regarding the H1N1 outbreak in the Ford-Iroquois county area.
As of Thursday, they have received 3 confirmed cases of H1N1 in Iroquois County.
Due to the closing of Watseka High School, they are now on a priority status at the state level to receive the H1N1 vaccine-meaning that the Ford-Iroquois Public Health Department will be one of the first places the new shipment will be sent. As previously mentioned, Watseka High School is closed today and is the only school in the area closed due to high absenteeism, however, they are also monitoring one area elementary school due to higher absenteeism levels.
The Ford-Iroquois County Public Health Department has established a phone line dedicated to H1N1 information where clinic dates, times, and locations will be placed. That number is 815-432-3850.

>> A black-out is to blame for a two vehicle accident Thursday morning near 5000 South Road.
55 year-old Sammy Odeneal of Kankakee was travelling north of County Road 5000 South Road when a vehicle crossed over into Odeneal’s lane operated by 29 year-old Rhonda Mailloux of Chabanse. Odeneal struck the left side of Mailloux’s vehicle–which ran off the road into a corn field, struck a phone box, and finally coming to a rest in the east ditch.
Mailloux was taken to Riverside Hospital for injuries. Odeneal was uninjured.
>> The Newton County Health Department will be holding a series of H1N1 Clinics. One clinic will be for pregnant women and will be held on Tuesday from 10am to 6pm at the Newton County Health Department. No appointment is necessary to attend.
The other clinic has been set-up for health care workers with direct patient contact. This clinic is for those health care workers that have not been previously vaccinated for H1N1. This clinic will be held on the following dates… Wednesday, October 28 from 9am-3:30pm…Thursday, October 29 from 9am-6pm…and Friday, October 30 from 9am-3:30pm.
